6 bananas

1 stick / 4oz / 125g butter

1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar

1/3 cup dark rum or banana liqueur

ice cream

active time: 5 minutes

total time: 15 minutes

you will need:

  • large non stick skillet (preferably with a steel handle)




back yard bananas foster

heat: the skillet by placing it on the grill

melt: the butter and sugar, you might add a pinch of cinnamon. let the butter melt and stir the sugar into it slightly

peel: the bananas and slice them in half lengthways, place them cut side down into the bubbling butter syrup

fry: the bananas about 6-7 minutes

heat: the rum so that it is hot (microwave is perfect for this)

ATTENTION: remove the skillet from the grill when you flame the bananas!

pour: the rum over the bananas and light it with a match

serve: with lashings of vanilla ice cream
