2468 Farrah's cake I know a part of my childhood died today. Who wasn't dazzled by Farrah Fawcett? I was baking a plain cake and I'd remembered that the 'funfetti' cake box boasts that it has 1 cup of vanilla pudding in the mix. So I decided to try that; I added two small tubs of vanilla pudding to my plain 2-4-6-8 recipe. I was astonished. It did everything that a cake is meant to do; it rose to a perfect dome, it browned evenly. It looked like a perfect California bombshell: blonde, curvy and tanned.
So here's to the woman who forged that image into an
icon. preheat oven to 375f beat butter in mixing bowl until pale and fluffy add sugar and beat to combine add eggs one at a time and beat to combine measure flour and add baking powder and a pinch of salt, add to bowl and beat to combine add pudding, 1/2 cup milk and canola oil, beat for 1 minute pour batter into cake pan and bake for about 40 mins
frosting: this
needed to be billowy and blonde, but not overly sweet.
The sour cream and cream cheese knock just enough off
the vanilla and sugar. beat the butter until pale and fluffy
add the
confectioners sugar and beat to combine. add 1 tspn of
vanilla and beat until sandy. add the cream cheese (room temp plus 10 seconds in microwave) and sour cream, beat to combine
add the rest of
the vanilla and beat 2 minutes until fluffy and
thick.
