shopping list: where to find the stinky stuff!
go to a delicatessan or supermarket with a good cheese selection
ask for one of each type of cheese:
- blue: gorgonzola, roaring 40's blue, blue castello
- soft: triplecream brie, pont l'eveque, camembert
- sharp: chevre, mersey valley cheddar, basque sheep's milk
- sensational: sotto cenere (studded with truffle and rolled in cinnamon)
the sidekicks:
- raisins, currants or sultanas (for the soft cheese)
- quince paste and honey (for the blue cheese)
- campari or sherry ( to soak the raisins etc...)
- bonne maman marmalade or preserved oranges (for the chevre)
- walnuts, pecans or dried cherries (for the sotto cenere)
- apple, pear, endive (for the sharp cheese)
and to calm the nerves:
- bubbly: prosecco
- white: pouilly fume or sancerre
- red: gigondas or cote du rhone
